Raising Money for Kids With Cancer

30th June 2024

On Thursday 18th March 2024, Ollie Hercombe’s life changed forever.

Ollie broke his leg whilst sparring at the gym in the boxing ring. After the examinations at the hospital, the X-rays showed a tumour at the break site. Ollie underwent various tests and a bone biopsy while submitted to hospital. When the results returned, the news wasn't good, and Ollie was diagnosed with an extremely rare type of cancer, Adamantinoma.Adamantinoma is found in only 1 in 1.9 million people, and what his family had thought were shin splints for over two years had turned out to be something unthinkable. This, however, didn't deter Ollie, and with his leg plastered purple, and a hospital borrowed wheelchair he went back to school. Unfortunately, further tests revealed the cancer had spread, and Ollie was left with two treatment options. Limb salvation which would result in ankle fusion, muscle loss, deformity, mobility restriction and a possible return of cancer, or amputation above the knee. Ollie has made the brave decision to have his leg amputated, for which he hopes will lead to a better quality of life, and more importantly, a higher survival chance. His family are asking for anyone who can help, to help them to raise the money for a prosthetic leg, which will give Ollie the mobility required to help continue with day-to-day life, and his love for boxing, with as little impact as possible.

Everyone at Coming Clean wishes Ollie a speedy recovery and rehabilitation and any donations would be much appreciated.
