Air Duct Cleaning

When it comes to your air ducts, it can be difficult to keep them to the required standards, as they can be hard to access, and harder to clean. When you’re running a commercial kitchen though, you need to make sure that your kitchen meets the various industry and insurance standards out there, including all your air ducts.

The COVID-19 pandemic raised some serious questions within the industry and reminded us of the important role that clean air ductwork  has on reducing the spread of disease in indoor spaces and as a knock on effect has prompted a dramatic rise in the need to monitor the quality of the air we breathe in. Failure to have a regular monitoring and cleaning regime in place significantly raises the risks of your kitchen staff serving contaminated food to your customers, opens yourself up to legal proceedings, and even facing closure of your kitchen.

Coming Clean has over 20 years of experience cleaning kitchen air ducts. Through a carefully designed service that causes minimal disruption to your business, our expert team will have your kitchen air ducts meeting all the necessary regulatory standards.

Our Air Duct Cleaning Process

Through more than two decades of delivering exceptional kitchen cleaning services, we’ve perfected the entire process so that you can go from picking up the phone to having clean air ducts quickly and easily.

First, get in touch with us and let us know your needs and give a few details about your business, at which point we’ll arrange to come and inspect your air duct system at a time that suits you. Once we’ve carried out our survey, we’ll come back to you with a plan for the clean along with a quote.

Once you’re happy with this, our team will come back at a time that works for you and your business to carry out a comprehensive clean of your air ducts using carefully chosen products and tried and tested methods. We’ll start with a thorough hand clean followed up by a sanitising polish, to ensure that your ducts meet all the industry standards.

Finally, we’ll make sure you’re 100% happy with the results as we provide you with a Post Clean Verification report which contains COSHH data sheets, details on restricted areas and schematics, micron readings, and before and after photos. This report will be generated and sent to you within 7 days of the clean.

  • Get in touch with us and we’ll ask for details on your kitchen and its cleaning needs before arranging a time that suits you for a visit.

  • We’ll take note of your kitchen’s air duct system and create a plan of how to clean it before discussing the details with you.

  • Once we’re in agreement on the clean, we’ll carefully select our team who will come out and carry out the clean as planned, at a time that suits your business.

  • Lastly, we’ll talk you through the clean, highlight any points of interest or concern, and make sure you’re 100% happy with the results.

What our clients say

Air Duct Industry Standards

TR19 ® Air

As a commercial kitchen, it’s absolutely essential that you keep your air ducts clean. It’s easy to forget to do this, since they’re out of the way and not presenting a constant reminder of the dirt that they’ve accumulated. But to avoid poor hygiene, it’s important that you keep on top of your air ducts cleanliness.

In April 2024, BESA released TR19(R) Air ‘Guide to internal cleanliness and hygiene management of ventilation systems’ which focused on helping the industry understand the hidden dangers that can come from systems that are not cleaned regularly or inspected. This is also part of the bigger picture to help improve Indoor air quality (IAQ)and addressing the dangers posed to human health by aerial pathogens and particulate matter.

When it comes to cleaning air ducts, there are very few, if any, in the industry who are able to deliver results like we can. With over 20 years of experience and hundreds of cleans under our belt, we know exactly what it takes to make sure your air ducts are up to scratch and at the standard required for TR19® certification, which we’re able to provide for you.

FAQS

  • Through a thorough clean of your air ducts that utilises non-harmful chemicals such as degreasers and detergents, we make sure that every inch is cleaned of any harmful microbe growth.

  • We’re experienced at making sure our cleans meet the required standards of National Air Duct Cleaners Association and all insurance requirements. We’ve designed our service to make sure that we tick every box, and won’t say the clean is done until we have. What’s more, we’re members of the Vent Hygiene Register (VHR) and accredited by the Building Engineering Services Association (BESA) to provide TR19 ® certification.

  • Yes, absolutely. When your kitchen’s air vents are clean, it means your HVAC system has to do less work since it’s easier to carry clean air into your kitchen, all of which means reduced energy usage and lower energy bills.

  • We highly recommend that you regularly inspect your air ducts to make sure that there’s no grease build up and set up a regular cleaning schedule. If you need help with this, we can advise you on how often you should have your particular air ducts cleaned.

How Do We Do Air Duct Cleaning?

Cleaning the air ducts in your kitchen is unlike the cleaning of any other area in your kitchen. Your air ducts are likely to be hard to access and it won’t be as easy to see if you’ve done as thorough a clean as is necessary.

Luckily, we have the experience, knowledge, and tools needed to make sure that your air ducts get an expert clean every time. Cleaning by hand as well as using rotary brushes  for those hard to reach areas, we aim to get every possible inch of your air ducts. Our team of experienced cleaners will get your air ducts back to meeting all industry and insurance standards. What’s more, they’ll do it all at a time that won’t affect the operations of your kitchen.

Benefits of Regular Air Duct Cleaning

It’s important to keep every area of your kitchen clean, particularly if you’re a commercial kitchen that’s feeding a large number of people. Unless you’re proactive, it’s easy to let the cleanliness level of your air duct system slide, even if you keep on top of everything else. The dirt in your air ducts is mostly out of sight, and often out of mind.

But unless you want to risk poor hygiene levels that can lead to contaminated food and lawsuits, as well as the increased risk of fire, it’s important that you remember to regularly clean your air ducts.

Besides avoiding potentially dire consequences, cleaning your air ducts will:

  • Make you compliant with industry regulations

  • Allow you to meet your insurance requirements

  • Provide better ventilation and working conditions in your kitchen

  • Reduce your energy bills

  • Extends the lifespan of your fan

  • Reduces unpleasant smells as well as mould and condensation

  • Show your customers that you take your kitchen hygiene seriously
